The winged jewels of the Pará Amazon
Overview
Pará is a Brazilian state located in the northern region of the country, it is part of the Amazônia biome and is home to a wide variety of environments, it has countless natural beauties, including birds. The metropolitan region of Belém, known as Grande Belém, is one of the regions with the oldest human occupation in the Amazon, and consequently, the most degraded, with only a few well-preserved forest fragments remaining.
In this itinerary you will get to know the cities of Belém and the districts of Mosqueiro, Santa Bárbara, Acará, and Bragança through the biodiversity they shelter, there are almost 500 species of birds already recorded in this circuit. In the capital Belém, you will disembark at Belém International Airport, just 50 km from the city of Santa Bárbara do Pará, where you will be staying.

Santa Bárbara do Pará
One of the best-preserved forest fragments in Greater Belém is the Gunma Ecological Park, located in Santa Bárbara do Pará, is an area of around 450 hectares of dense rainforest, where there are still rare timber species, such as acapu (Vouacapoua americana), maçaranduba (Manilkara huberi), o ipê-roxo (Tabebuia impetiginosa) with at least two centuries of existence.
When talking about birds, there are more than 300 species already recorded in the Park, some of them are rare such as the Dot-eared Coquette (Lophornis gouldii), curica-urubu (Pyrilia vulturina), anambé-de-rabo-branco (Xipholena lamellipennis), among other beautiful species.

Acará
About 50 km away from the city of Santa Bárbara, we have another well-preserved forest fragment in region of the lower Acará River, is the area belonging to Comunidade Quilombola Menino Jesus, in the city Acará, an area of around 700 hectares of forest, where chestnut trees are managed, the raw material from which the community derives its livelihood.
In Acará there are some rarities such as the pica-pau-dourado-de-belém (Piculus paraensis), uirapuru-vermelho (Pipra aureola), and the limpa-folha-vermelho (Philydor pyrrhodes).

Bragança
We will also visit the Atlantic Amazon, a coastal region in the State of Pará, bathed by the Atlantic Ocean. The chosen city is Bragança, a historic city, full of biodiversity, about 220 km away from Santa Bárbara. Bragança has the Caeté-Taperaçu Marine Extractive Reserve, which is part of the largest continuous strip of mangroves on the planet.
And it is home to species such as sanã-preta (Laterallus jamaicensis) rare in Brazil, papa-lagarta-do-mangue (Coccyzus minor), and the garça-tricolor (Egretta tricolor), several species of maçaricos, batuíras, guará, colhereiro, and others.

Belém e Mosqueiro
Finally, a visit to Belém to see species such as the periquito-da-campina (Brotogeris versicolurus) and japuguaçu (subspecies Psarocolius bifasciatus bifasciatus) and visit the Ararajuba reintroduction project (Guaruba guarouba).
