Santa Bárbara: Nature tourism in Greater Belém

Basic Packages – Santa Barbara

If you're short on time but want to experience the Amazon's rich biodiversity, Santa Bárbara do Pará's basic packages are ideal. Located just 50 km from Belém, the city is one of the best destinations for birdwatching and wildlife in the metropolitan area of the Pará capital.

The accommodation takes place at Refúgio dos Naturalistas – Ecolodge, located in an agricultural village on the outskirts of Gunma Ecological Park. The place offers simple and cozy accommodations, with amenities such as air conditioning and hot showers, as well as providing a true immersion in nature: waking up to the sound of birds and enjoying regional meals prepared with care.

Gunma Ecological Park is one of the last and best-preserved fragments of dense rainforest in Greater Belém. Covering approximately 540 hectares of native forest, the park is home to centuries-old trees such as ipê-roxo, maçaranduba, andirobeira, breu-branco, and sapucaia, as well as rare and endangered species such as the Bolitoglossa paraensis and the Theraphosa blondi.

For bird lovers, the park is a true paradise. More than 300 species have been recorded, including rarities like the Central Brazilian Dot-eared Coquette (Lophornis gouldii), curica-urubu (Pyrilia vulturina), White-bellied Parrot (Pionites leucogaster) and the anambé-una (Querula purpurata).

Santa Bárbara do Pará represents a unique opportunity to connect with the Amazonian wilderness, even in a region marked by intense occupation and degradation. It's an invitation to discover the beauty and resilience of the forest on the outskirts of the capital.
